Verdi Club: 29th Street Swingtet at the Woodchopper’s Ball
October 16 @ 9:00 pm - 11:30 pm
29TH STREET SWINGTET:
Heavily rooted in the “Gypsy jazz” sound of French swing guitarist Django Reinhardt, the 29th Street Swingtet also draws upon various other jazz-oriented genres, including blues, Latin, and be-bop. In further completing their unique and eclectic sound, the group also infuses the sounds of pop, ska, hip-hop, and world music. The 29th Street Swingtet ardently seeks to revitalize the age of jazz swing in a youthful and energetic manner.
The Woodchopper’s Ball, named after the classic 1939 swing tune by the Woody Herman Orchestra (and their biggest hit!), is a weekly Tuesday swing dance event held at the historic Verdi Club in San Francisco.
