Combining the energy of a monster truck rally with the creativity and brilliance of the Bay Area art community, Southern Exposure’s annual Monster Drawing Rally is a can’t-miss event. And this year it’s in person on Saturday, October 19, 5:00–10:00 PM, at The Lab. The Monster Drawing Rally is an incredible evening of art making and fundraising, where over 100 local artists create brand-new work right before your eyes. As you spy on the creative process, you’ll see sketches, paintings, and collages morph into full-fledged artworks—immediately available for just $100 each. Not to mention, artwork from past years will be available for purchase at even lower costs!

As part of our commitment to supporting the creative community, all participating artists have the option to receive up to a 50% commission of the sale, with remaining proceeds going directly to furthering our work at Southern Exposure.

Enjoy a DJ set by The Baptist for some beats to dance and draw to all evening. There will be beer by Fort Point Brewing, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages available for purchase. This family-friendly event is a celebration of the creativity and ingenuity of the Bay Area art community. A kids’ art-making table will be available for all the budding artists.

Early bird bonus: The first 50 people to purchase tickets for our 2024 Monster Drawing Rally will receive a new, limited-edition riso-print by acclaimed artist David Polka, for free! Ticket purchasers after the initial 50 will have the option to add on a print for $20.

COVID protocols: Masking is optional but recommended; free masks will be provided. With the extremely high Covid rates in the Bay Area right now, we ask that if you are feeling sick, please stay home. If you’ve been exposed, please test before joining us for the festivities. We will have masks available if you forget yours.
SoEx reserves the right to update our COVID protocols at any time to further protect the health and safety of our guests, artists, staff, and volunteers.
Accessibility: The Lab is an ADA-accessible venue.
Getting there: Located on 16th St, just off Mission, The Lab is close to BART and many MUNI bus lines. No dedicated parking is available for this event.
