Southern Exposure: Artists in Education Spring Exhibition | Residual Threads (Opening Reception)

Residual Threads is about the layering of frayed fringes, fragmented phrases, woven together cultures, structures of faith, mismatched patch work, odes to the matriarch, the tranquil life, and hidden realness. At the heart of this exhibition is the throughline of perseverance, self-reflection, and self-preservation.

Residual Threads is a teen centered group exhibition featuring art from participants of our various Artists in Education programs, including works from our Youth Advisory Board (YAB), Contemporary Classrooms, and our teen open call. Contemporary Classrooms this year was a partnership between SoEx and Patricia Copeland’s art classes at George Washington High School. YAB curated selections from the open call. The exhibition is an exploration of identity through drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpture.

Exhibition runs May 10- May 25, Tuesdays – Saturdays 12pm-6pm.
