Who or what heals and nurtures you?
What does mutual care look like?
What gives you the strength to get back up?
By exposing Acts of Care, we aim to highlight reciprocal relationships that fuel positive narratives of compassion for the self and the wider community. The pieces in this exhibition capture powerful moments of perseverance, communion, and respite.
For our first photography-based exhibition we partnered with Counter Collective, a bi-coastal photo collective that, “aims to create a network for those historically excluded from traditional art spaces.” With their support, we’ve gathered 22 Bay Area artists who illuminate moments of human connection, regeneration, and solidarity through their work.
This exhibit showcases depictions of motherhood, love among marginalized identities, meals made for oneself and others, and unique spaces of rejuvenation, tenderness, and intimacy. Acts of Care is a testament to the power, purpose, and value of compassion as we each navigate our lives during trying times.
In 2019, Ruth’s Table opened as an intergenerational arts hub, thanks to the support of Ruth Asawa’s family and a diverse team of arts ambassadors. We are committed to increasing access to creative experiences, especially for older adults and people living with disabilities. We offer a combination of rotating exhibitions, workshops, special events, performances, and initiatives that are accessible, inclusive, and always free of charge.
