Manny’s: The Roadmap to San Francisco’s Future

In February 2023, to address the economic implications of the pandemic, Mayor London N. Breed put forward a vision to position San Francisco for its next chapter. The Roadmap to San Francisco’s Future focuses on five key priorities:
• An economically diverse and resilient job engine
• A welcoming clean and safe environment
• A dynamic destination active at all hours, every day
• A world-class transportation experience
• An equitable economy that supports full participation by all
In the time since the Roadmap’s launch, the City has both made significant progress towards the Roadmap’s priorities, and has moved towards a new understanding that San Francisco’s future has to look different than its pre-pandemic past. Sarah Dennis Phillips from the Office of Economic & Workforce Development will speak to key priorities of the Roadmap, achievements to date, and key next steps, including Mayor Breed’s goals for 2024.
Director Sarah Dennis-Phillips has been a City and County of San Francisco civil servant for 14 years. A trained urban planner, Sarah began her California career in downtown revitalization, working to build thriving downtowns in Mountain View, Livermore, Redwood City, and other northern California cities. Sarah’s service to the City of San Francisco started in 2005, first in the Planning Department before moving to OEWD as Deputy Director of Development. In 2019, Sarah transitioned to the private sector, joining the San Francisco offices of Tishman Speyer, where she led development and placemaking efforts creating urban neighborhoods with high levels of affordability, public space, and transit.
