Manny’s: The Future of the Tenderloin

February 19 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

The Tenderloin is often cited as the most troubled neighborhood in San Francisco. It contains, in its few blocks, some of the greatest poverty in the City while also sharing borders with some of the City’s wealthiest communities.

The Tenderloin also represents the beating heart and soul of San Francisco and is at once the place where suffering happens and is alleviated. Many of the most vulnerable San Franciscans call the Tenderloin home.

What then does the future look like for the Tenderloin? As the wealth continues to grow for some in this City, as Uber, Square, Airbnb, and Pinterest, all within a few blocks, go public in the coming year, and as the Federal funding for supportive programs dwindles, what will happen here? How can the average San Franciscan help?

Here to be in conversation on this question is “Mayor” Del Seymour – the unnoficial Mayor of the Tenderloin and Supervisor of District 6 Matt Haney, who’s district includes the Tenderloin.
