Manny’s: One Storytelling and Spoken Word Journey: “What does liberation look like?”

May 18, 2024 @ 4:30 pm - 7:00 pm
A person with arms outstretched stands on a rock in a mountainous area at night. The sky is filled with star trails. Text in the image reads "Meeting The One.

“We’re all just walking each other home”- Ram Dass, American spiritual teacher.

You are cordially invited to an evening of Meeting the One. Yourself? Humanity? The Universe?

This is one human’s journey for what this means to her. Lorriechange is a truth seeker, spoken word artist, urban planner, daughter of The City, second-generation Chinese American, and dancer under the open sky. Her North Star is to revive flow between humanity’s heart and mind.

For 8 years, Lorrie researched, supported, and reflected on collective liberation in the United States through arts and cultural-based community development (a field of focus called “creative placeknowing/ keeping/ making”). Then, she decided to turn those lessons onto herself and ask, “What does liberation look like for me?

Three years later, this is her story (so far). All she wants is to share what she’s learned with

those she loves, friends she has met along the way, and the beautiful mystery of those she’s yet to meet– everyone who is walking her home.

Come for a night of spoken word, storytelling, and whatever else may come through!

Show starts promptly at 4:30p! Optional Dress Code: SHIMMER. Come in what makes you feel

shiny and joyful. Yay Spring! Magic wands, crowns, wings, or a little flower power are celebrated. No pressure though. All is beautiful!
