So Soul San Francisco: Black Art Salon Series presents
MANIFESTO interactive workshop and salon
THURSDAY, JUNE 20 at 7PM
Take part in a participatory workshop and engage in discussion and brief preview of Rotimi Agbabiaka’s latest solo show. Add your voice before it premieres at the National Queer Arts Festival.
In MANIFESTO, Rotimi follows up his hit show Type/Caste with a portrait of a young artist at a crossroads. As the entertainment industry extends a welcoming hand to this previously excluded queer, black actor, he must decide whether to pursue the trappings of mainstream success or remain an outsider artist on the road less traveled.
On his journey, he is visited by artistic ancestors – James Baldwin, Nina Simone, and Fela Kuti and others- who guide him towards the visionary ambition of a Manifesto. A theatrical revolution for this moment!
We invite you to add YOUR voice to complete this vision of a riveting, rowdy, and revolutionary theatre for the 21st century!
Bring your opinions, short rants, call and response, ring shouts and throwdowns to assist us in finding new answers to the questions that have been hidden by the answers.
What’s the problem with theatre these days?
What would YOU do to fix it?
Come prepared to take a stand.
