ABOUT Miriam Ladrón de Guevara

ENGLISH

Miriam began her artistic journey at the age of 14, exploring ceramics and photography. She studied clinical psychology, where she discovered art therapy as a bridge between her passions for art and human behavior, eventually dedicating herself fully to visual creation.

With a strong environmental commitment, she recycles all her own waste and uses recycled materials in her work to raise awareness about the ecological impact of our actions. Her sculptures combine recycled paper, cement, wire, and natural pigments.

She has taught sculpture workshops for blind and partially sighted people, promoting inclusion through art. She lived in Colombia, where she held her first exhibition, and has lived in Oaxaca since 1991, where she founded the women artists’ collective ARMO to highlight women’s work in art.

Her work has been exhibited in Mexico, Colombia, the United States, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Chile. In 2017, she was named a Distinguished Citizen of Oaxaca and recognized by the state’s Ministry of Culture for her sculptural career.
