826 Valencia: The Scented Imagination: Daydreaming with Your Nose (all ages)
September 15, 2019 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
A one-day workshop
Yosh Han and Andrea Kasprzak
826 Valencia Writing Lab
Join Yosh and Andrea for an interactive workshop that will engage all of your senses! Learn to tap into your creative channels and formulate them into narratives that speak from your soul. Whether you’re writing fiction, non-fiction, poetry or a history paper, this workshop will expand your notion of “what’s possible?” We will be exploring the power of scent to ignite the imagination. Did you know that about 30% of millennials would rather give up their sense of smell than their smart phones? What these young adults don’t realize is that memories, imagination, and feelings are more readily reached through the sense of smell than through any other channel. We’ll be using easy-to-guess scents as well as quirky and mysterious scents for this dreamy workshop. Come with your ideas!
Yosh Han was the original Purveyor of Pirate Supplies for 826 Valencia between 2002-2004. During that time, she created a collection of pirate perfumes which led her to creating her own fragrance company called YOSH. She also created a collection of Time Travel scents for the Time Travel Mart for 826LA. She is a Nose, Super Taster and former tasting judge for the International Chocolate Salon in San Francisco. While she loves to teach and speak about these subjects, she enjoys creative collaborations with other artists in these fields. YOSH is currently a Creative in Residence at The Battery in San Francisco. As an entrepreneur with over 15 years experience in the Flavor and Fragrance industry, Yosh serves on the Advisory Board for other beauty and beverage brands. She has taught and lectured at CCA, 826 Valencia, Tigerlily Perfumery, Asian Art Museum and DARPA. In her free time, she loves to sail, scuba and swim in the open water. Once a pirate, always a pirate.
Andrea Kasprzak is the author of IMAGINATION TRANSFORMS EVERYTHING (Seal Press/Hachette Book Group, 2019), a daydream playbook designed to reconnect readers with their imaginations. Formerly, Andrea was the San Francisco editor of DailyCandy and the Make Senior Editor at Brit + Co, where she focused on the intersection between spirituality, creativity, and science. Andrea currently works with clients throughout the Bay Area and beyond to introduce the concept of intentional imagining. A unique combination of intuitive counseling, idea generation, and personal story writing, intentional imagining helps clients to identify limiting beliefs and bring their dream storyline into reality. In her free time, she loves to read, write fiction for young adults and children, and play in nature.
