Good afternoon!

John Elberling, the longtime leader of TODCO, an affordable housing group, has died. See Sarah Hopkins‘ obituary of the powerful political player who was a hero to San Francisco’s anti-displacement activists and drove moderate pro-housing developers “crazy.”

Clara-Sophia Daly interviews the fired immigration judge Jeremiah Johnson, who traveled to the U.S.-Mexico border to meet with immigrants, local residents, and Border Patrol officers. Read what he learned.

Eleni Balakrishnan reports that Sheryl Davis, the former director of the Human Rights Commission, appeared in court yesterday saying she would plead not guilty to charges of misusing city funds.
