Today from Mission Local

Good afternoon!

Well, the city banned RVs last November. And, unsurprisingly, many people who were living in RVs are now living on the street after their homes were towed. Marina Newman reports on the successes and failures of the city’s large vehicle permit program and its promise of alternative housing.

For back story, read Marina’s excellent coverage of the city’s closure of vehicle safe-sleeping sites, the RV ban, and problems with the RV permit program.

Clara-Sophia Daly follows up on the ICE arrest at SFO: Attorneys say SFPD officers on the scene may have violated sanctuary laws, and a bystander has filed a complaint with the agencies responsible for enforcing them.

Oscar Palma writes that Friendship House, a Mission nonprofit that serves mostly American Indians, is opening sober housing on 24th Street where people can live for up to two years after graduating from a recovery program.

And a nice piece by Julie Zigoris on Antonio Sotomayor, “the most famous San Francisco artist youโ€™ve never heard of,” whose 1930s mural was just uncovered in a Pacific Heights home.

More soon,

Sara
