Good afternoon! Here’s the latest:
A judge has denied a motion to ease the “strict” house detention of Jon Jacobo, a Mission community leader charged with sexual assault, after pleas from three of his alleged victims. Jacobo’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for December 16.
The California Academy of Sciences shut down a climate-change youth group and fired its staff coordinator after teenage members showed solidarity with the museum workersโ union.
And Mission Local won two more awards from the Northern California branch of the Society of Professional Journalists, for explanatory journalism (on money in politics) and for tech reporting (on driverless cars and AI culture.) See the details from Joe Eskenazi.
More soon,
Sara
We’re hoping to raise $200,000 by Dec. 31
We have $70,000 in matching funds for our end-of-year-fundraising campaign, meaning every dollar given right now is doubled. Will you help us reach our goal?
