Good morning!

Election Day, like war and childbirth, features long periods of tedium punctuated by panic. Joe Eskenazi is here to remind you to breathe deeply when the first results are announced by SF’s Department of Elections tonight around 8:45PM โ€” that count will only be of ballots received by Sunday. Joe explains why this election is so hard to predict; don’t expect the final results for days.

But do follow our election blog with live updates: Mission Local reporters will be filing stories all day from across the city.

And keep scrolling down the blog for stories you may have missed. We’ve got a round-up of the best and worst election ads, Aaron Peskin‘s endorsement by the city’s largest Chinese-language newspaper, and a report on who’s behind all those slate mailers piling up at your door. Oh, and we’ll tell you what a SHIMBY is.

More soon,

Sara
