Today from Mission Local

Good morning!

Yes, it’s exhausting just thinking about all the propositions crowding the November ballot — San Francisco’s got 15 local measures to vote on. We’re launching some excellent 60-second video explainers to give you the basics. Up today: Props A, B, C, and D.

If you’re a parent, you’re probably also exhausted by the ongoing SFUSD drama over school closures and mergers. The K-5 students at Harvey Milk Civil Rights Academy, which is on the list for a potential merger, marched through the Castro to protest with their teachers and families. “What would Harvey Milk do?” a child demanded. “Would he keep the school or would he kill it?”

Other SF youth advocates sent a letter to the SF Police Commission yesterday, asking to revise SFPD’s draft policy on juveniles by further limiting the use of handcuffs. They also asked for other protections, including unconditional access to toilets, drinking water, and language services for arrested youth.

More soon,

Sara
