Today from Mission Local

Good afternoon!

Did you see Mission Local staff out on the streets this week? We printed up —yes, printed, on real newsprint—20,000 copies of the best of our election coverage in Spanish and traditional Chinese. And then staff distributed the papers around the city, at street corners, restaurants, libraries, malls, and even the DMV. See the photos of our hardworking reporters and editors getting the news out—and find out where you can get a copy.

And yes, we got the list of schools potentially slated for closure or merger. Take a peek—and then brace yourself for a lot of heated back-and-forth before the final decision in December.

Yujie Zhou has an in-depth report on Dear Community, an incubator for the city’s moderate Asian politicos, and its ambitious founders, Jade Tu, Amy Lee, and Forrest Liu. The three political operatives, who organized Chinatown safety patrols during the pandemic, have support from Mary Jung, who co-founded the big-money group Neighbors for a Better San Francisco.

In a companion piece, Yujie also digs into accusations of bullying against Forrest Liu, who has a reputation for picking fights. It’s quite a story.

More soon,

Sara
