Good morning!

The Police Commission voted last night to take back control of creating the SFPD’s social media policy. It also rescinded two secret “bureau orders” that sidestepped the commission’s authority—sending a strong message about who’s setting policy for the cops. “I want to be clear that this resolution is a statement of disapproval from this commission,” said Commissioner Kevin Benedicto.

Rock Band Land, a year-round Mission camp for kids 4-13, teaches guitar, drumming, music tech, videography, songwriting, and more. “This is not cute,” says its co-founder. “This is real work. A lot of kids that struggle in other places thrive here.”

The San Francisco Documentary Festival at the Roxie (online and in person) kicks off tonight with a film about the Satanic Panic” of the 1980s. Also tonight, an an Afro-Caribbean dance class and afterparty at Bissap Baobab. There’s lots more stuff to do coming up this weekend!

More soon,

Sara
