I am a native San Franciscan. Since becoming a photographer I’ve found The City always ready for her close-up, blemishes and all. I love doing shots here— can’t let tourists have all the fun.

  1. uggh, let’s not publicize graffiti vandalism. Doing so just encourages it. The owner of the building has obviously had to paint junk like this before. No one wants to live in a City with ugly tags like this all over it — the need to remove or cover it up is just a waste of money and resources.

  2. Interesting part of town, about a block away from a corner produce store I once frequented, as well as a couple of fish markets within spitting distance of each other (one of which offers a hell of a lot of red meat, including the odd haunch of goat; the other of which an eclectic assortment of oysters). Then there’s that space that needs fixing up with livability. Until that happens, that patch of pampas will continue its lonely bannering until plucked or repotted.

    1. Do you recall a few years ago when we had heavy rains and somehow(?!) frogs made their way into what became temporarily a virtual wetlands? (To walk by and hear them croaking was kinda surreal.)
