I am a native San Franciscan. Since becoming a photographer I’ve found The City always ready for her close-up, blemishes and all. I love doing shots here— can’t let tourists have all the fun.

  1. Being His Majesty, The Baby of The Family , allowed me to sleep in on Sundays but after my sister got home from church, off we’d go to a double-bill (sometimes even triple!) matinee at the Harding (We called it the “Hardy”) theater on Divisadero, usually something like “Attack of The Crab Monsters” and “The Amazing Colossal Man!” They don’t make ’em like that anymore! Good times.

  2. Remembering El Capitan: My favorite day of the week was Sunday. Our dad would
give my sister and I 50 cents. 25 cents for church and 25 cents for El Capitan theater.
One day my sister coerced me in to missing church so we could eat as much candy
as we wanted. Needless to say, a nun appeared on our doorstep next day and wanted
to know why we didn’t go to mass. Needless to say, we never played hooky from that day
on. I am now 85 years old and my heart is still in San Francisco.
