A man was taken to San Francisco General Hospital in life-threatening condition early Friday morning after being struck by two cars near 20th and Mission streets. A 33-year-old man was walking on Mission Street when he stepped into traffic and was hit by a car, after which he hit a second car.

“One car hit the pedestrian and the pedestrian then hit another car from being struck,” said Officer Grace Gatpandan, a spokesperson for the police department.

The man was knocked unconscious and transported to the hospital for life-threatening facial fractures. The police did not have an update on his condition.

Just a few hours earlier, another car crash sent a man to the hospital after he was assaulted just moments after colliding with a parked car. On Thursday at 10:20 p.m., a 45-year-old man had crashed into a parked car near 24th Street and Potrero Avenue when a 40-year-old man standing on the sidewalk approached him.

The victim, who had exited the car, was assaulted by the suspect and fell, hitting his head on the ground. The suspect then fled in an unknown direction, but witnesses helped police locate the man and arrest him.

The victim was taken to San Francisco General Hospital for abrasions to the face, a concussion, and a broken nose, all of which were non-life-threatening.
