Music fans worldwide today are mourning the loss of Velvet Underground legend Lou Reed. The 71-year-old songwriter-guitarist inventist died Sunday after complications from a liver transplant back in May. In March, Reed was forced to cancel tours at Coachella and San Francisco’s Warfield, citing health complications. Thanks for always taking us on the wild side, Mr. Velvet Underground. We salute you.
It seemed yesterday’s windocolypse toppled a couple cars in the neighborhood. San Franciso weather says gusts got up to 38 mph. Mission Mission reported the vehicular wipe out here. Other reports included apartment buildings shaking, seeing one bicyclist flip over handlebars, and a tree fall on a car on Valencia. As one Twitter put it:
Gone are the days of the circus caravan traveling town to town. In place of little wagons pitching modest tents, we have Cirque du Soleil and its 120 cast members, who are estimated to bring in $13 million into the local economy. The show, “Amaluna,” will hire 150 temp workers for staffing and 100 workers to set up Cirque du Soleil’s 62-foot tent, which takes eight days to erect and three days to take down. “Amaluna” runs November 13 through December 31.
