It’s fall and that means football season is upon us. The 49ers started off the season strong, beating the Green Bay Packers 30-22 in Wisconsin. And if that wasn’t enough, David Akers also tied the NFL field-goal record with a 63-yard kick. The San Francisco Chronicle has the story.

According to the San Francisco Examiner, suspended San Francisco Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi is stepping up efforts to keep his job as the Board of Supervisors prepares to vote on his fate. Earlier this year, Mirkarimi pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor following a New Year’s Eve incident where he grabbed and bruised his wife. He was later suspended by Mayor Ed Lee.

And in case you missed it, Little Tree Studios, located on 22nd Street between Valencia and Guerrero, celebrated its grand opening Saturday. The studios will be used for art education.
