The National Journal reports that in 2011 Latinos became the largest minority group in four-year colleges and universities across the United States. The information was released in a Pew Hispanic Center report on Aug. 20.

The number of 18- to-24-year-old Latinos enrolled in college surpassed 2 million in 2011, according to the report, accounting for 16.5 percent of the student population.
