Hope you didn’t have to be outside last night and could experience the rare Bay Area thunderstorm from indoors. Thursday night’s storm flooded several businesses on Folsom Street with water and sewage. Neighbors say floods are an almost annual occurrence around that area, one of the lowest parts of the city. Immigrant parents met last night at Sanchez Elementary to discuss concerns over the quality of education for immigrant youth in San Francisco, ABC reports. A coalition led by the Central American Resource Center wants to find ways to improve graduation rates and test scores for Latino students.

It’s Open Studios time in the Mission this weekend! Hundreds of artists will be showing off their work all over the neighborhood.
