Happy Thursday! It’s 7:30 a.m., 43°, headed to 57°, and it looks like we’ll get some sun in the afternoon. Details for the next 10 days are here.

Mission Mission went on a stroll through Ames Alley, between 22nd and 23rd streets west of Guerrero, and found a nice community gallery.

In transportation news, the Examiner reports that Muni’s deficit is much higher than expected:

In September, the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, which runs Muni, projected a $23 million shortfall for this fiscal year, which ends June 30. The agency said it could make up that deficit by cutting down on overtime and reducing work orders — bills paid to other city departments for their services.

However, by November the agency’s shortfall had grown to $27.8 million. Now, with about three months left in the fiscal year, the deficit stands at $29 million.

SFMTA spokesman Paul Rose said the deficit has increased in large part because of ballooning salaries and benefits, including higher-than-expected overtime allotments.

And while we’re talking transportation, have you noticed an addition to South Van Ness? We’d already heard from a few people that it’s nice to have buses run here instead of on Mission Street while Mission is under construction. Now that benches have been installed, some might wish the route could become permanent. Uptown Almanac has pictures. What do you think?
