It’s been a busy and dangerous Black Friday for many shoppers this year. With stores opening at early as 10 p.m.on Thursday, crowds of people headed to big stores around the Bay Area to get deals on big price items like flat screen TVs and appliances.
In San Leandro, things got ugly outside a Walmart store. A shopper was shot in a robbery attempt at about 1: 45 a.m. The San Francisco Chronicle reports:
The shooting occurred about 1:45 a.m. as the victim and his family were walking through the parking lot to their car, San Leandro police reported. When a group of men confronted them and demanded their purchases, a fight broke out.
The victim was taken to a local hospital and is in stable condition. Police arrested a suspect in the case.
People were injured at a Los Angeles Walmart store when a woman pepper-sprayed some 20 people to get a better chance of snatching some discounted XBox games. Two-dollar toasters also got people in a frenzy here.
In San Francisco, Occupy SF participants sang words of protest to the tune of “I will survive” in the heart of Union Square. According to SFist, protesters blocked traffic downtown in an effort to stop shoppers from going into stores.

Incidents such as these are sad and shameful for the world-view of our country. Just 24 hours after we are supposed to give thanks and show compassion for those in need, all of this comes to surface from the Capitalist mania the public is worked into by Big Business.
