A 53-year-old woman had her purse stolen early Thursday morning when an unknown suspect yanked it from her arm. At 3 a.m. on Hampshire Street between 23rd and 24th streets, the woman was walking to her car when someone tried to steal her purse from around her shoulder.

When the suspect was unsuccessful, the suspect pulled on the purse with greater force and took it from the victim, fleeing on foot. The police do not have a suspect and have not made an arrest.

Crime is trauma and the county offers different services. Here is a link to a page of services.

Victims of violent crime can also contact the Trauma Recovery Center at UCSF.

  1. Please note this correction – it’s the third story in mission local in the past week that mis-uses the word robbed (verses stolen). The purse was stolen. The woman was robbed. Thank you!
