Between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Wednesday, a neighbor said he saw a group of young men shoot at two women driving a black Honda on 24th Street and Lilac Avenue. He said the men called the women “bitches” and threatened to kill them, and that the car peeled away after the shots were fired.

“It was five, six, maybe seven young kids. They even looked 12 or something like that,” said the neighbor, who did not wish to be identified. “Every time I hear shooting, it’s always young kids. It’s so fucked up.”

The neighbor then called the police, though police reported neither shots fired at that location and time nor any incoming calls. A woman who lives nearby also reported hearing shots closer to 11 p.m. but saw no group of youths.

Other Crimes

Thursday morning at 4 a.m., a 26-year-old man was sleeping in his home on Treat Avenue between 25th and 26th when he was awakened by his barking dog. The man looked around his house and noticed an unfamiliar backpack in his kitchen, but did not notice anything stolen.

And later that day at 9:35 p.m., a 36-year-old woman was using her phone while walking near Dolores and Cumberland when a man in his 20s came up from behind her and put her arm behind her back. The woman tried to fight him off but the male suspect threatened to kill her and then stole her phone. A second man in his 20s grabbed her purse, and both fled on foot.

And Friday at 2:30 p.m., a 37-year-old woman was sleeping on the street near 13th and Folsom when she was hit with a bat by a group of seven men of unknown ages. The men stole her purse and fled the scene, and the woman was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
