Update: The victim of Friday’s hit-and-run, 28-year-old Ronald Barreto de la Cruz, succumbed to his injuries over the weekend. Police did not immediately respond for comment on whether there were any suspect descriptions or arrests made in the case.
A small memorial to Barreto de la Cruz, a San Francisco resident, was placed on Mission Street near 26th by Sunday morning.

A black Honda swerving onto Mission Street early Friday morning sent a 28-year-old man to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The man was near 26th and Mission at 2:20 a.m. when the black car made a left turn onto Mission, hitting the man and fleeing northbound on Mission Street. The victim suffered lacerations to the head, and the police have made no arrests.
Other Crimes
A 34-year-old man was tazed in a laundromat Thursday afternoon when two men of unknown ages entered the cleaners on Mission Street between Highland and Richland and stunned the man in the neck while he was doing laundry. The suspects didn’t steal anything, however, and fled the scene afterwards. The man was transported to the hospital for non-life-threatening pain to the neck and head. The police have made no arrests.
And on Thursday at 11:07 p.m., a 46-year-old man was on his phone near 15th and Julian when he was approached by a 25-year-old man on a bicycle. The suspect threatened the victim with a knife and demanded his phone, which the victim handed over. The suspect then fled the scene. The police have made no arrests.
