Google has chosen its Bay Area finalists for its $500,000 Impact Challenge grants and among them, we see two Mission nonprofits—The Community Music Center on Capp Street and the Mission Asset Fund on Valencia Street.

Vote now! And see the other projects up for an award.

Google explains:

Learn more about each nonprofit and their causes. Vote for your favorite four. The winners will receive a $500,000 grant, support from Google, and access to co-working space to bring their ideas to life. In total, 25 organizations will receive funding to help create a better Bay Area.

And Google provides a voting guide, which we have inserted below.

Oh, and there are no losers. The top four get the top prize, but the remaining six get $250,000 each.

The libertarian underpinnings of some of these “charities” make the whole project too distasteful for me to vote. This kind of do-good p.r. is, of course, undermined by Google’s funding of ALEC, its admission that it shared user data with the NSA, etc., etc.

  2. And don’t forget us – Lava Mae is a $100k finalist in the Google Impact Challenge. We’re headquartered in the fabulous Women’s Building on 18th between Valencia & Guerrero! Proud to add to the strength of the Mission District!!
