However, the more often your phone gets stolen, the more often you give money to the telephone companies and phone manufacturers. Not that they are related to the stealing of devices that goes on. Just saying, that is why the phone companies have been lobbying against integrating a ‘kill switch’ in smart phones.

Supporters of such laws say that if kill switches, which can make stolen phones inoperable, were ubiquitous, thieves would have no incentive to steal the devices. MORE HERE

It would be nice to keep the same telephone device without having to upgrade it every year, regardless if it gets stolen. By the way:

Smart phone theft is rampant: It made up 67 percent of San Francisco robberies in the first few months of 2014, according to law enforcement authorities. Nationally, phone thefts increased 94 percent between 2012 and 2013, according to Consumer Reports. MORE HERE
