A motorcycle and car were involved in an accident at 7:30 tonight on the corner of 16th and Guerrero streets.
The rider of the motorcycle was taken away for treatment but not badly injured, according to an officer on the scene.
“The guy is going to be okay,” the officer said. He said it was unclear if the motorcycle actually hit the white two-door vehicle.
Traffic on 16th Street between Valencia and Guerrero streets was backed up while workers cleared the motorcycle from the middle of the intersection at Guerrero.
A block away, at 16th and Valencia streets, officers detained one man just after 7 p.m. for allegedly attempting to steal a bicycle from a stand on the west side of Valencia just south of 16th Street.
A cut lock sat nearby the suspect who sat on the curb on Valencia while an officer interviewed a witness around the corner on 16th Street. Police had already stashed the bicycle in the truck of a patrol car when a reporter walked by.
After interviewing the witness, officers went looking for an alleged accomplice.
You might want to go to the accident down the block at Guerrero, one officer advised the reporter who happened to walk by the bike incident.
