The intern at the National Transportation Safety Board who confirmed the four racially offensive Asiana Airlines pilot names from flight 214 is no longer an intern, reports The Chronicle. According to the NTSB, the intern, who was unpaid, “acted outside the scope of his authority.”

According to The New York Times, more than 4.4 million aspiring legal immigrants in the United States wait in green card backlogs as Congress debates an overhaul of the immigration system. A bill passed by the Senate in June includes measures to eliminate backlogs and create a new merit program. But House Republicans say that they are not in favor of the bill.
