When the existence of Adobe Bookshop was recently threatened by a huge rent increase, a group of artists, writers, book lovers and Mission residents stepped up to save the beloved place that has fostered the arts for 23 years. The group’s goal is to create a new, sustainable Adobe while retaining all of the things they love about the old one.

Tonight they will host “Adobe Lives!”, a fundraiser kickoff party that will celebrate the store’s past, present and future. The free event begins at 7 p.m. at the store and will feature a reading, music by DJ Carnita (Hard French), a photo booth by Shot in the City, and food and drinks donated by local businesses.

Can’t make it? You can still help save the store by donating to the “Save Adobe Books” campaign here.
