It’s 7 a.m. and 44°, heading to 59°. It’s going to be another sunny day in the Mission. Details are here.

Four buildings were evacuated yesterday morning due to a gas leak at 24th and Bryant. Contractors were doing sewer work when they ruptured a pipe at approximately 10:50 a.m. The leak was capped at 12:35 p.m. and residents were allowed to return to their buildings.

The Examiner reports that the Obama administration is considering urging the Supreme Court to overturn California’s Proposition 8. The state’s ban on gay marriage has been a hot topic since the initiative was approved by voters in 2008. In 2010, the proposition was overturned by United States District Court, and in 2012 supporters of the ban petitioned the U.S. Supreme Court to review the case. A brief to intervene in the case must be filed by Feb. 28.
