Fabric8, the store and art gallery on 22nd Street, is changing its name to the Luna Rienne Gallery. The staff is remodeling the space and sent out this announcement about a party on Jan. 26:
Started in 1995 as an online boutique, then opening a physical location in San Francisco’s Mission District in 2006, fabric8 has shifted and changed to become more of an art gallery, which they will be focusing on in the future. Their neighborhood, too, has seen quite a bit of change, to which they are also responding.
They will be keeping the retail location on 22nd Street, as well as the majority of the artist roster they have developed since expanding into a larger gallery in 2009, and have begun remodeling and rebranding as Luna Rienne Gallery.
The 17th Anniversary and Farewell Party will feature a clearance sale of their boutique items and special discounts on original artwork to make room for new inventory. A rotating exhibition during construction will feature recent works by artists Brian Barneclo, Erik Otto, Evan Venegas, Gianluca Franzese, NoMe Edonna, Reuben Rude, Telopa, Ursula Xanthe Young, and more.
The fabric8 brand will continue on for limited-run tees and prints by the gallery. Art collectors and lovers are welcome to continue visiting their gallery and new parklet, designed by artist Ursula X Young, while they are under construction.
It’s weird that there’s no date or time listed in their press release.
