The Board of Supervisors’ Rules Committee met Monday to continue discussion on a measure that would create a Housing Trust Fund, and decided to submit the measure to the entire board. It will go before the full board on Tuesday.

At Monday’s meeting, Supervisor David Campos continued to question how the trust fund fits with a gross receipts tax reform bill, which was identified at a previous Rules Committee meeting as a possible source of revenue for the fund.

Supervisor Mark Farrell agreed with Campos that the full board needs to “explore and discuss” the issue of gross receipts tax reform and its connection with the Housing Trust Fund.

Campos said that the two are separate issues and worried about “watering down” the discussion of either one.

Despite this reservation, Campos voted to submit the Housing Trust Fund measure to the board, saying, “I do want to be supportive of this measure and I’m leaning in that direction. I do have more of a level of comfort with this.”
