An 81-year-old man driving a white Ford van struck a woman who was walking on the sidewalk along 23rd Street near Folsom Street with her twin daughters Monday morning.

The woman’s injuries were not life-threatening and her daughters sustained only minor injuries.

The incident happened at about 9:54 a.m. on Monday, according to police.

The man was reportedly traveling south on Folsom Street and turned west onto 23rd Street when he drove onto the sidewalk and hit a building.

Police said that the van continued along the sidewalk and struck the woman, described as in her 30s. The twins, who are two and half years old, were knocked out of their stroller but were not hit by the vehicle.

The van kept moving, hitting a tree, which fell over and landed on a parked GMC truck.

The driver appeared to have a medical emergency unrelated to the car crash, police said. He was not arrested or cited, according to the police.
