Surveillance photo sent by one of the burglary victims.

A reader e-mailed to tell us that a man apparently broke into their house on Guerrero between 21st and 22nd streets on Saturday at 5:22 a.m. and stole four bicycles and some bike gear. Sergeant Michael Andraychak told Mission Loc@l that officers responded to reports of a burglary at 8:20 a.m. on Saturday. The stolen property belonged to three victims living in the house.

According to the SFPD officer who took our report there are two garages a day in the Mission District being burglarized with almost exclusively bicycles being stolen.

By the speed of the theft, the fact that the thief went straight to the garage, and the lack of windows in our garages tells us that the burglar had cased out our garage while we had worked in our driveway or simply opened the door in the past. In our case we had a motion detecting camera, which caught a decent profile photo of the thief in action, something that the Officer who took our report said is rare.

Surveillance footage shows a man in a light-colored shirt and a backpack inside the garage at 5:22 a.m. If you have any information regarding this burglary, please contact the Mission police station at 415-558-5400.

  1. Bike thieves are like horse thieves. The lowest of the low. I’ve had a bike pinched out of my garage and the rage I felt…oy.I hope they catch this guy.
