A man was shot in the leg after being confronted by two male suspects near 15th and Capp streets, police told Bay City News.

The man, believed to be 20 years old, was walking down the street at around 2 a.m. when the two suspects asked him what his gang affiliation was. He told them he was not in a gang, and they shot him in the leg and fled the scene, according to Bay City News.

The victim was treated at the scene and taken to the hospital in stable condition, according to Bay City News.

Mission Loc@l spoke to about a dozen neighbors in the area who said they did not hear or see anything.

A neighbor noted that gang-related shootings are unusual on this side of the Mission.

“I thought we were done with that,” another woman said in Spanish.

  1. People have to come forward and get this to stop. This young man was shot because he was NOT in a gang. It is up to the community to keep him safe.
