It’s currently 41° and might get up to 53°. It will be partly cloudy, with a 20 percent chance of rain. Here are the details.

The family of Richard Sprague, the man whose cries for help went unanswered as he lay dying on Julian Avenue, is calling for police to clean up the area, according to the San Francisco Examiner:

“It wouldn’t have happened in my neighborhood,” [Sprague’s partner David] Nielsen said. “In my estimation, The City needs to clean up the area near 15th and Mission. As soon as the businesses close down [at night], there’s nothing but predators out there.”

On a happier note, the Sacramento Bee has a colorful photo slideshow about the Mission, featuring Paxton Gate, Clarion Alley and La Taqueria, among other spots.

The San Francisco Business Times has the backstory on how Alamo Drafthouse became interested in developing the New Mission Theater into a five-screen, 500-seat movie house. The Times quotes Alamo founder Tim League:

“We are planning on a full and complete historic renovation. Even though our plan is to subdivide the balconies into small boutique theaters, we will be doing it in such a way as to preserve nearly all of the amazing architectural details of the space,” he writes. “We would still preserve the massive downstairs screen and transform that space into a potential premiere venue with state of the art sound and picture. We have been working hand-in-hand with the both historic and neighborhood groups to make sure that our restoration plans meet with their approval. The great news is that the theater interior is largely in good shape. A large percentage of the interior details have been preserved and even most of the light fixtures are intact.”
