The Mission Bears, in their first home court appearance since the AAA playoffs of the 2011 season, defeated the Lincoln Mustangs last night, 72-67. A slow start by the Bears helped the Mustangs lead by four points at the half. But a surge in the third quarter, full of intense defensive plays, pushed the Bears to their first double-digit lead of the night.

The team’s defense forced 17 Lincoln turnovers and earned 17 defensive rebounds. The offense was led by forward Gione Edwards, with 30 points. The win brings Mission’s record to 9-7 and their league record to 2-0. The team will continue their two-game home stand on Monday, January 9, when they welcome the Balboa Buccaneers.
