Scene and Not Heard

Happy Monday, Missionites! It’s 7 a.m. and 50º. We’re headed for a high of 63º today, and a sunny week ahead.

We hope you enjoyed the weekend’s New Year’s parties, fireworks or countdowns at home with loved ones.

Are you looking for a new hobby this year? Maybe keeping tabs on world-class sailboat racing is for you. The America’s Cup is coming to the Bay soon, and now, as the Chronicle reports, it’ll be easier than ever before to follow what’s happening on the water. Race umpires will use an “augmented reality” technology system called LiveLine to provide TV and Internet viewers with real-time race info.

In other news, the 49ers earned the NFC’s No. 2 seed and a first-round bye yesterday with a 34-27 win over the Rams. “We needed it bad, we needed it very bad, we needed it really bad,” Coach Jim Harbaugh said of the bye.

And back to the Mission: Does anyone know where the new lovely splashes of color are coming from? If so, please send us a clue, and we’ll get you a story.

Enjoy the first Monday of 2012.
