Muni is cracking down on fare evaders, and apparently the inspectors from the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency should be the new officers on “Cops.” An excerpt from the Chronicle’s column:
But 15 minutes after arriving, the platform turned crazy. Confronted by an agent for not having a ticket, a burly passenger started a brawl with agents and police. One officer was knocked to the ground, and another was accidentally pepper-sprayed. As passengers looked on, the belligerent fare-jumper broke free, jumped off the platform, and ran into the neighborhood, pursued by four cops.
San Francisco loved Warren Hellman, as was obvious on Wednesday, when more than 1,500 people, many of them strangers, attended the influential philanthropist’s memorial service. Hellman died Sunday night of complications from leukemia.
On a lighter note, there may not be a lot of fateful kisses this holiday season. The New York Times reports that bad weather across the country has created a shortage of mistletoe. But don’t worry.
