Good morning Missionites! Guess what? The week is half over, and while many of you were hitting the snooze button for an extra 15 minutes of sleep, we decided to check to weather for you. It’s 7 a.m., 43° and headed to 61°, so dress appropriately. Details for the next 10 days are here.
We also checked the news for you. Here’s an excerpt from a USA Today article about how Congress rejected the payroll tax cut extension passed by the Senate to help families:
The White House is claiming more than 10,000 responses to a simple question: What would you do with $40?
That figure — $40 — has become the Obama administration’s rallying cry as it seeks to pressure House Republicans into backing an extension of the payroll tax cut enacted last year — before it expires at the end of the year.
“If Congress fails to extend the payroll tax cut, the typical family making $50,000 a year will have about $40 less to spend or save with each paycheck,” said a White House statement. “Over the year, that adds up to about $1,000.”
For some fun news: Back again after last year’s success is SF Gate’s Ugly Holiday Sweater Jubilee 2011. Send in your best picture of the ugliest holiday sweater you ever wore — all photos must be submitted by Saturday.
Now that you are wide awake and thinking about the ugliest holiday sweater you ever wore or what you could do with an extra $40, think about Mission Local and donate to our awesome team.
Happy Wednesday, Missionites! The weekend is almost here.
