Betty Bastidas, who used to write for this site, is in the middle of making a full-length documentary about El Chota Valley, a town in Ecuador where the primary export is soccer stars. Players from El Chota have taken Ecuador to the World Cup in 2002 and 2006, but the town itself remains pretty much the way it’s always been: poor.

She’s running a fundraiser on Kickstarter to complete the project. It’s going to be fabulous.
