Police are still looking for a man suspected in the death of Joseph Williams, who was found Thursday afternoon in his apartment at 2973 Folsom Street.

Williams’ brother found him slumped in his chair, already dead. Since then, a man who has yet to be identified has been using the victim’s ATM card to withdraw cash. Police released a photograph of the man using the ATM card on Saturday, but so far have no new information.

Investigators are also looking into the cause of the three-alarm fire Friday afternoon on Capp Street that left nine tenants homeless and one fireman with minor injuries.

Friday the 13th

Bad luck began early on Friday the 13th. At 4:25 a.m. on Cesar Chavez, near Harrison Street, a suspect in his 30s approached a woman from behind and tried to grab her cell phone.

A struggle ensued and the suspect punched the victim in the face with his left fist before fleeing on foot without the phone. The 33-year-old woman was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at San Francisco General Hospital.

Saturday, May 14

Ten men assaulted a 23-year-old man at 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, robbing him of Russian and American currency and his passport.

The assault occurred at the BART plaza on 16th Street, which Mission Loc@l has found to be the most dangerous corner in the Mission.

The victim was taken to SF General with non-life-threatening injuries.

A 25-year-old man walking on 23rd Street near Potrero at 10 p.m. on Saturday was approached from behind by an unknown suspect and stabbed in the neck.

The victim was taken to St. Francis Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Sunday, May 15

Police are looking for a person or persons who may have set fire to two porta-potties at construction sites on 18th Street just after midnight on Sunday.

In both cases, the backsides of the porta-potties melted. The first incident occurred at 12:30 a.m. in the Castro, at Douglass Street, and the second incident three minutes later, on Sanchez Street.

    Here’s a better solution: someone tries to grab your phone? Throw it into traffic in the street.
