An 18-year-old man is fighting for his life after he was shot twice in the upper body on Tuesday at around 5:30 p.m., police said.

A witness at the scene who declined to give his name said that he heard three gunshots fired and saw a crowd gathering around the victim, who was lying on a driveway at the corner of 25th and Capp streets.

A citizen took the victim to San Francisco General Hospital, according to Albie Esparza, a spokeswoman with SFPD. She declined to  give a description of the suspect.

Muni Stabbing

An hour earlier, a man was stabbed in the back as he was getting off the bus on 24th and Mission and suffered life-threatening injuries, police said.

The victim told police that he felt like he was being pushed and then realized he was actually stabbed, Esparza said. Police have no description of the suspect, but they are working with Muni to see if surveillance video is available.

Esparza said police have no reason to believe the incidents are related.

Police are asking for information in both cases. The anonymous tip line number is 415-575-4444.

  1. Awwww…the kids don’t have someone to hold their hand and tell them not to shoot people… It’s always someone else’s fault right? What about the PARENTS? What about the rest of this-oh-so-special (and VERY well politically protected/sacred) COMMUNITY? What about the damn kids THEMSELVES? Nope, time to play the victim card.

  2. Regarding your question at the end of your comment: “Wow….Looks like there is now a violent assault, robbery, shooting, or stabbing every single day in the Mission. What the hell is going on here? What is the police response?”

What’s going on here is the The City, the Mayor and DCYF CUT, DEFUNDED AND ELIMINATED many of the Violence Prevention and Safe Haven Programs which in turn had Community folks working with a LOT of these youths who now have NO CASE MANAGERS, NO OUTREACH STREET WORKERS to continue with the preventive work. THAT my friend is the sad reality! Add that to the FACT that the SIX schools in the Mission rank LAST IN THE STATE OF CA! Recipe for violence increase!
