As we write this on Thursday morning, immigrant students are staging a mock graduation and deportation skit at Senator Dianne Feinstein’s office.

They are demandng that Feinstein champions the Dream Act, a bill that would allow undocumented students who are in good moral character the chance to obtain legal status.

So far Feinstein said she is a co-sponsor, but The Bay Area Dream Act Coalition said they also want her leadership.

Organizers said that they have only about a two-week period to put the bill on the table again or it will die for the year.

Last time students went to Feinstein’s office on May 20, seven UC Santa Cruz students were arrested after staging a sit in refusing to leave until Feinstein called them personally.  They were later released.
