Eric, the Sunday manager at Delano’s IGA on South Van Ness who declined to give his last name, said that as far as he knows, rumors that the market will be closing are wrong.
All weekend, he said, customers have been coming in and asking him about the closing. Customers have also been writing to Mission Loc@l to ask about the closing.
“I’ve got customers coming in and telling me” about this, he said. “It’s been horrible this weekend.”
The corporate offices are closed until Monday. If anyone has any more information, please let us know.
Otherwise, check back for an update on Monday. ^lc
Earlier Today
It’s supposed to be a gorgeous 72° outside.
The Lion’s Cage
Flickr photographer Bats1234 has been prowling the streets at night, and getting some gorgeous shots, as posted here on Mission Mission.
I think he said, “what’s that rattle?”
Marshall Elementary school students better be on their game on Monday, U.S. Deputy Secretary of Education Tony Miller will visit the school. Represent, young’uns.
Dogs in the Park
I’ve really been on a hot dog/sausage kick lately (along with the rest of the city), so on this beautiful, slow-blogging weekend, I thought it worthy of calling back to Jonathan Kaufmann’s listing of extreme, must-eat dogs in the city. Bacon-wrapped hot dogs, of course are high on the list, and Rosamunde’s gets a passing mention.
Alright, get out there and enjoy the day everyone.
i went in today and the deli section had clorox bottles all over for some sale. there was no clover milk, all the regular produce was eliminated as well as the case in the cold section the cold salad dressings were gone. the cashier tried to dodge my questions on them closing and said we arent closing, we still have another month or so to go. I said why is there no items on the shelves. she said they still have stuff coming in. i said are they not telling you anything? she answered ” of course they arent telling us anything.”
re: Trader Joe’s or the like;
I’d be happier if it were replaced with a great local grocer with a commitment to carrying responsible (healthy and sustainable) products and local produce, a new coop maybe!!
Rather than a place with produce individually wrapped in plastic.
Several weeks ago, regarding dwindling supply, employees said ‘its weird, we haven’t been told anything’. Last week multiple checkers said they are closing imminently and will be retained based on seniority. Most recently I was told the closing was postponed and that they were expecting a delivery to re-stock in the meantime.
I saw an Odwalla worker there several days ago removing their refrig. display case.
Wouldn’t it be awesome if Trader Joe’s went in to the Delano’s location in the mission. zOMG that would be da bomb.
